ALL IN, BABY!

thekeri replied to your post: Dubblin Down

Stop it. YOU JUST STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

And sprinkles (jimmies here in MA) on ice cream? UNNECESSARY! The hell you doing putting refined sugar on top of refined sugar?  Ice cream should stand on its own as a flavor, not have its flavor overpowered by bullshit sprinkles.

This goes for almost anything people dump on ice cream.  The hell you doing putting M&Ms or Butterfinger bits on ice cream fer?  Why dontcha just eat that instead of fuckin’ up perfectly good ice cream that was made to taste a certain way?

Also, marshmallows in hot chocolate is nasty.

And gummi anything?  Total and complete bullshit

Filed under thekeri I'd drink butterscotch sauce like it was water tho

All You Ever Needed to Know About Consulting

thekeri answered your question: Truthful Tuesday: Audience Participation Edition (a.k.a. Ask me stuff?)

I think I’ve asked you this before, but what was your career in consulting like?

The Good

  • No better business education, bar none
  • Saw parts of this country I never would have seen
  • Paid well
  • Worked with high-level people in organizations
  • I ate well
  • I learned daaaaaamn good time and project management skills
  • You work with really bright, motivated people
  • You learn (the hard way) how to get unwilling people to work with you…eventually.
  • Gives you a real appreciation for how business is actually run
  • The few times when you actually see that your work has helped a company in meaningful ways?  That’s immeasurable.

The Bad

  • Way too much time traveling, and for bullshit.
  • You gain weight.  (Travel + expense account + restaurants = gimme!)
  • You have to work mostly with mid-level managers who have been ordered to work with you, and/or who don’t take kindly to having to work with some young whippersnapper who was just hitting puberty when they started working at that company.  Doesn’t make for a very cooperative or positive environment - at least at the start.
  • You don’t usually see the results of your work (it’s onto the next project!  An idle consultant is a cost center.)

The Ugly

  • It is not a game for people who like their partner’s company and/or do not want to outsource the raising of their children.
  • It burns you out.  Seriously.
  • I grew weary of contributing to a business model that I had fundamental problems with (i.e., the business model of a consulting business of the size and makeup of the one I worked for necessitates selling more work in order to survive - even when the client didn’t need it.)
  • A.  Slow.  Death.  By.  Powerpoint.

Heidi Klum Could Still Get It, Though

thekeri replied to your chat: We get around

I love her. This season of PR’s pretty awful though, innit?

I actually wouldn’t know.  Not exactly my cuppa tea, knowhamean?  My wife watches it pretty religiously (she studied fashion merchandising in college) and has a completely different viewpoint of what’s “good” and what isn’t, compared to me.  She’ll be watching it, and I’ll see something on the screen, and say “that looks decent to me”, and that more often than not she looks at me like I grew another head right in front of her.  So, yeah, I know nothin’.

But a Trini in de mix! Go Anya! Even though I could care less about clothes and shit!  I must admit - it’s a kick to hear my accent on the teevee!
